Why it's important
Front windshields on large motorhomes like Class A and Class Super C coaches are significantly larger and harder to install than normal automotive windshields. In addition to the larger size of the glass, the vehicles themselves are much bigger than regular cars and trucks.

Why it's important
The cost to replace a windshield on a Class A motor coach can be 5 to 10 times the price of a regular windshield install. The much higher prices for RV windshields lead to longer approval times and more stringent requirements than auto glass claims for everyday vehicles.
A company that doesn't handle many RV auto glass claims may have a harder time getting claims approved. They will likely need to provide more information to the insurer than they are used to providing to justify the need for the RV glass service, and they most likely will not be able to get claims approved as quickly since they're not as familiar with the process.

5. Nationwide Warranty
Why it's important
There are 3 main areas of coverage in a motorhome glass warranty: materials, labor and leaks.
- Materials (or "parts") coverage includes any issues with the service materials, such as imperfections in the new glass itself or the rubber windshield gasket if your motorhome uses one.
- Labor (or "workmanship") coverage includes any issues with how your new glass was installed, like if the urethane adhesive wasn't properly applied all the way around the windshield frame, or if the rubber gasket was installed improperly so the glass isn't properly seated in it.
- Leaks coverage includes any issues with either air or water ingress in or around the windshield.
How we do it
- Most problems with materials and labor will happen soon after the new RV glass is installed. For instance, if there's optical distortion or some other defect in the glass, or if the techs made a mistake and didn't install the new glass correctly, it's normally apparent within a few hours, days or maybe weeks after install.
- Air and water leaks are a little different than parts or labor issues. They can occur at any time based on many different factors.

Why it's important
Motorhome windshields take much longer to install than windshields on normal passenger vehicles. A Class A RV windshield install can take 4-6 hours or more to complete, vs less than an hour for a regular vehicle.
Many RV owners prefer mobile service if it's available to avoid spending an entire day at an in-shop location while their new windshield is put in. Most independent shops will not be able to provide mobile RV glass services at all, and even larger regional or national auto glass companies may have very limited mobile service availability compared to dedicated RV glass companies.

7. Transparent Pricing

The cost for an RV windshield replacement service varies dramatically based on factors like the size of your motorhome, the cost of labor in your area, and even the cost of shipping your new glass to your service location.

8. Type(s) of Glass
Why it's important
There are 3 different types of glass used in motorhome windshield replacements: OEM (original equipment manufacturer), OEE (original equipment equivalent) and aftermarket.
OEM glass is the same glass that your motorhome was originally made with, made by the same Tier 1 glass companies and to the same specifications. OEE glass is made by the same Tier 1 companies as OEM but it doesn't have your RV brand logo on it, which allows it to cost less. Aftermarket glass is made by other companies to Federal minimum standards so that it can fit in your vehicle, but it may not have the exact fit and finish as OEM or OEE.
Most individual shops and larger, multi-location companies specialize in installing one type of glass, but have the ability to get other types if needed. OEM glass is the most expensive (often significantly more than the others), followed by OEE and then aftermarket. In terms of potential problems after install, OEM glass is least likely to have issues, followed by OEE and then aftermarket.
How we do it
- To keep our pricing affordable for our customers, we use OEE or aftermarket glass as the standard option for our auto glass replacements. We source our glass from specialized RV glass distribution centers across the US.
- For customers who prefer OEM glass (with their RV logo on it, just like the original glass their RV came with), we can use that if desired but it may cost significantly more. We can also source inexpensive aftermarket glass for most motorhome makes and models for customers who prefer to keep their service cost as low as possible.
